How Social Structure Improves Distributed Reputation Systems1 Three Hypotheses
Reputation systems provide an incentive for cooperation in artificial societies by keeping track of the behavior of autonomous entities. The self-organization of P2P systems demands for the distribution of the reputation system to the autonomous entities themselves. They may cooperate by issuing recommendations of other entities’ trustworthiness. The recipient of a recommendation has to assess ...
متن کاملReputation based on punishment rather than generosity allows for evolution of cooperation in sizable groups
Cooperation among unrelated individuals can arise if decisions to help others can be based on reputation. While working for dyadic interactions, reputation-use in social dilemmas involving many individuals (e.g. public goods games) becomes increasingly difficult as groups become larger and errors more frequent. Reputation is therefore believed to have played a minor role for the evolution of co...
متن کاملArchitecture for Media Streaming Delivery over P2P Networks
Peer-to-Peer networks (P2P) exhibit specific characteristics that can be exploited for media streaming delivery. In this paper we propose a P2Pbased architecture for video streaming delivery incorporating reputation, cooperation, and semantic clustering strategies. We believe that the integration of those strategies will lead to significant improvements of P2P-based media streaming delivery. In...
متن کاملEvolution of Cooperation Driven by Reputation-Based Migration
How cooperation emerges and is stabilized has been a puzzling problem to biologists and sociologists since Darwin. One of the possible answers to this problem lies in the mobility patterns. These mobility patterns in previous works are either random-like or driven by payoff-related properties such as fitness, aspiration, or expectation. Here we address another force which drives us to move from...
متن کاملOn potential links between inequity aversion and the structure of interactions for the evolution of cooperation
Despite the fact that most models of cooperation assume equal outcomes between individuals, in real life it is likely rare that this is the case. Does it make a difference for our understanding of the evolution of cooperation? Following a taxonomy of cooperation concepts that focuses on costs and benefits, we explore this question by considering the degree to which inequity aversion may provide...
